Who is it for?

You can apply to become an Affiliate for free for the duration of your studies if you are:

  • An apprentice or studying engineering at college
  • An undergraduate student studying a STEM degree
If you have an active interest in engineering, but not a qualification, you can apply to become an Affiliate.

How much does it cost?

Application fee

There is no application fee or annual subscription charge for undergraduate students studying a STEM degree and apprentices. If this is not you, you can find out about our fees and charges in UK pounds. View our fees in India.

If you're not professionally active or your annual income is below £18,000 you may qualify for a reduced subscription.

Undergraduate students (eg BEng, integrated MEng)

If you're studying for your first degree in a STEM subject (full-time, part-time or sandwich) you can apply online or complete a PDF application form along with any other supporting documents and email it to membership@imeche.org.

Apprentices or those in Further Education

If you're on an apprenticeship or studying engineering at college you can apply online or you can email a completed PDF application form to membership@imeche.org.

Individuals interested in engineering

If you're interested in engineering, but have no formal qualifications, and would like to pay to become a Member, you can apply online. An application fee is required. Or you can email a PDF application form to membership@imeche.org.

Post-graduate students

If you already hold an undergraduate qualification in a STEM subject, you may be eligible for Associate membership.
