The Regional Strategy Board (RSB) represents the Learned Society element of the Institution.
About you
Eligibility & Person Specification Nominees for RSB Deputy Chair must:
Be a current member of the Institution.
Be a current or past UK & Ireland Regional Chair.
Previously sat on the Regional Strategy Board for a minimum of a year.
Not be a member of the Trustee Board.
Have a high level of understanding and interest in the issues of regional members.
Have proven leadership skills.
Commitment Engagement and participation are key. It is expected that the RSB Deputy Chair will need to allocate an average of .5 day per week to the role.
What you will do
Represent the RSB at Institution events when necessary.
As appropriate attend regular telecon with RSB Chair & RSB secretariat RSB Deputy Chair Role Description 2024 Responsibilities.
Work closely with the RSB Chair & secretariat in the running of RSB, acting as a delegate as appropriate.
Where required to do so the Chair can ask the Deputy Chair to provide input to; o Ensure good communication and best practice is achieved within RSB.
Ensure all decisions are acted on.
Ensure there is an active officer succession plan in place.
Ensure adherence to good governance across the UK & Ireland regional network in particular ensuring the Volunteer Handbook and RSB Terms of Reference are kept up to date.
Oversee the work of the UK & Ireland Regions. o Execute the IMechE Business Plan within the RSB committee.
Review and approve the formation of new regional panels & committees.
Review and approve meeting papers, minutes, agendas and documents with the RSB Secretariat.
Review and approve RSB Chair’s Funding proposals with RSB Chair.
Encourage active involvement of all committee members.
Raise awareness of engineering to the younger generation
How much time it will take
Attend a minimum of 3 x RSB Committee meetings (virtual/ face to face). Bi-Monthly call with RSB Secretariat.
