Academic Standards Committee

Comprising experienced academic and industrial volunteers, the Academic Standards Committee (ASC) is responsible, on behalf of the IMechE, for conducting accreditation visits, compiling accreditation reports, and approving the accreditation of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in the UK and internationally.

As a member of the ASC, an academic or industrial volunteer works as part of an accreditation visiting team, utilising their expertise and knowledge to credibly assess individual engineering programmes.

Requirements and training

Attend a training day virtually or at IMechE HQ. GDPR training. Must already be a member of the academic accreditation panel.

Eligible academic accreditation panel members must apply, and the successful candidate will be selected by the ASC.

It’s a privilege to work with higher education institutions across the UK and internationally to help them develop their engineering degree programmes to prepare their students for careers in engineering.
