IMechE Apprentice & EngTech Awards – apply by 11 September

You still have time to apply for the IMechE Apprentice & EngTech Awards 2022. The forms are now digital, making it easy and quick to apply. Be sure to apply or nominate by 11 September.

The Institution’s Apprentice and EngTech Awards show our unwavering support for apprentices, engineering technicians and their dedicated and generous employers. Year after year, they contribute greatly to the industry and economy. IMechE are great believers in celebrating up-and-coming talent and nurturing established and long-term relationships. We’re offering financial prizes, as well as the prestige associated with being named an IMechE award holder.

Apprentice of the Year Award 2022

Apprentices who demonstrate their commitment to personal development, employer and community can apply for the Bryan Hildrew Apprentice of the Year Award. This award is named after the former IMechE president, who was once an apprentice at North Eastern Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. Bryan is an excellent example of the substantial, positive outcomes of an apprentice position and went on to help build the UK's first nuclear submarine.

The winner will receive £1,500. Apprentices will have an impressive portfolio, showcasing above and beyond duties, such as charitable or voluntary work. We want to see your dedication shine. Enrolment in an advanced/modern engineering apprenticeship is crucial and for the first time, we are opening up nominations for Apprentice Affiliate Members of any professional body.

EngTech of the Year Award 2022

EngTech members of any professional body can apply for a £2,000 award by showing us their exceptional commitment to the encouragement of young people who are in the infancy of their engineering careers. This could be working at a school, volunteering at youth groups or mentoring at work. How have you positively impacted your company, the engineering industry and the broader economy? The EngTech of the Year award will help the winner extend their engineering promotion to young people.

""It is a real honour to win this award, and I am excited about how it will support me in continuing to promote STEM subjects and inspiring young people to consider careers in STEM.” - Jessica Reading

Other awards are up for grabs, such as the Bruce Ball Prize and CC Pounder Prize, each offering £1,000. You can apply for the Bruce Ball Prize if you studied at an educational institute in Scotland at Level 4. The CC Pounder Prize is eligible for those who studied at an educational institute in Northern Ireland at Level 3.

The Advanced Apprenticeship Provider of the Year Award will go to an organisation that can show significant dedication and commitment to promoting future talent while supporting their journey to becoming EngTech registered. Applicants must be able to demonstrate achievements for apprentice/graduate schemes and invest in outreach programs for young engineers.

Now that the application process is online, it is much easier and quicker to put yourself or your organisation forward.

The deadline for all applications is 11 September 2022, good luck!
