IMechE and ITN Productions Industry News will be co-creators of a news-style programme, exploring the vital role of mechanical engineering as a driving force in solving global challenges.

Launching November 2021

The world is dependent on engineers. Every day, experts in the field are developing, exploring and proposing new solutions to help overcome some of the biggest challenges facing our world today from climate change and energy to personal security, health, clean water, food, technology, travel and sanitisation.

Anchored by an ITN Productions presenter, Encouraging Innovation will explore the interconnectivity of all aspects of engineering and the factors driving significant change in the profession including rapid advancements in technology and increasing global connectivity. The programme will provide a platform to raise awareness and understanding of the profession, highlight best practice and knowledge and shine a spotlight on significant contributions to societal and global advancements in healthcare, technology and the environment in particular.

The programme will premiere in November 2021 and will combine key sector interviews, informative news items and sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations.

Terry Spall, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers said: “Mechanical engineers make a huge contribution to society and are key in solving so many of our pressing global challenges. Taking part in this programme with ITN Productions is a great opportunity to spread the word about our profession and encourage more young people to consider engineering as a career.”

Nina Harrison-Bell, Head of ITN Productions Industry News said: “We are excited to be working with IMechE to make a programme that raises awareness of the importance of the mechanical engineering profession to individuals, society and the world.  We hope the programme encourages debate and knowledge sharing amongst leaders within the profession and raises the profile of mechanical engineering as an exciting profession for our next generation of engineers dedicated to improving our world.”
