newly qualified fund

After completing your course or training there can still be a lot of financial or logistical challenges to meet, even if you move into paid work. It is for that reason that Support Network has created a ‘Newly Qualified’ fund – a specific programme to help Members* in the first three years of their STEM related careers after finishing their studies or apprenticeship.

Higher levels of funding are available during this three year period to help with the transitional costs of entering employment, such as help with:

  • Train and/or underground season tickets
  • Rent and/or rental deposits
  • Relocation costs
  • Childcare costs
  • Autism and dyslexia support
  • Debt and money management advice
  • Smoothing the impact of repaying loans
  • Employment advice and CV refresh
  • Counselling

*Applicants must be an IMechE member (UK or International) at a paying grade of membership and have also completed one of the following:

  • Apprenticeship
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Masters
  • PhD
  • Other training/ education which would then enable STEM employment

Completion must have occurred within the previous 3 years of date of application to Support Network (discretion to extend depending on circumstances).
