Pathways and barriers to ‘electrification’ of the energy supply

Examining the limits and solutions to clean power growth.

1 hour

Summary

Examining the limits and solutions to clean power growth.

There is a trend towards increasingly electrified energy systems, with low-carbon electricity displacing fossil fuels even in applications such as transport and heating.

This webinar will briefly examine how energy systems have already changed and are forecast to evolve further, in order to meet the challenges of both climate change and of greater security of supply.

It will outline which options ‘low carbon electricity’ encompasses, why a mix of sources matters for resilience, and why ‘flexibility’ has become a key mantra in energy transition discussions.

It will also discuss where and how limits will almost certainly emerge to the notion of ‘electrify everything’, and where other alternatives can coexist to enable the continued decarbonisation of energy provision.

Who should attend?

This will be an informative webinar for commercially-focused people with an interest in the evolution of low carbon energy systems, and the growth opportunities this provides. It is therefore highly recommended for business developers, industry analysts, product strategists amongst others.

How will I benefit?

  • Understand what ‘electrification’ means in practice
  • Identify the factors which could inhibit rates of electrification
  • Assess the importance of multiple clean power supply options
  • Understand why electricity and clean fuels (e.g. hydrogen) will coexist
