Claire Jones, Chair of the Young Member's Board
Claire studied Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University graduating in 2006. During her degree she undertook an industrial placement year in Munich, Germany working within a Materials Engineering company. After graduation she took a graduate placement working within the Vacuum Pump industry in the South East of England. For the last four years she have lived and worked in West Cumbria within the Nuclear sector.
She became a STEMNET ambassador whilst at university, this combined with her roles within Girlguiding UK has led to her becoming more involved with careers days and engineering fun days post graduation. She joined the West Cumbria Area Panel in 2008 and was part of the team that set up the West Cumbria Young Members Panel in 2009. She was awarded IMechE’s title of “Young Member of the Year” in 2010.
When she's not working she likes to spend time in the mountains, mountaineering, ice climbing and snowboarding. She has a passion for gadgets from cameras to her 600cc Suzuki Bandit motorbike.
James Hobbs, Director of Marketing and Communications
James is the Director of Marketing and Communications for the IMechE and has spent twenty years working for 'creative industries' from advertising to design. James worked at the Design Council prior to joining the IMechE.
Paul Gerrier
Paul is a Fellow of the Institution, working in flight controls with a passion for photography. Paul is a keen member of the Royal Photographic Society and is often out taking photos!
