Building to Break Barriers

Suspension Bridge built by Alex Kiyani, Science Hunters participant 2019
Building to Break Barriers is an outreach project from the Science Communication Unit at the University of the West of England which is funded by an Ingenious grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Building to Break Barriers will co-produce ten new engineering outreach sessions with engineers, children, and young people, and deliver them around the UK. The sessions will use Minecraft to convey engineering topics. To help increase representation, the children involved will be from under-represented groups, and so will some of the engineers.

A joint session with the IMechE will task children to discuss current global challenges and consider engineering solutions using Minecraft. This discussion will create the development of a framework for a classroom activity which is aimed at 7-14-year olds.
