Frequently Asked Questions

Can you enter more than one team from each company or training provider?

Yes, more than one team can enter from a particular company of training provider. Teams must not exceed 6 people. 

Must you have six members in a team?

No, teams can have fewer than six participants. 

Can I sign up to become a judge?

Yes, we would be delighted to involve you in the judging process, please email aac.challenge@imeche.org with your availability.

Do you have any advice on how to deal the various elements of the Challenge?

Yes, please review the Apprentice Automation Challenge pre-event webinars available on YouTube. We could also recommend that you work with your company liaison and other colleagues for further guidance on project planning and for the chance to practice presenting your work.

Can International teams enter the Apprentice Automation Challenge?

Yes, the competition is open to UK and International teams.

Please note that the Apprentice Automation Challenge are unable to cover the costs of any travel expenses or accommodation. The Institution does, however, have scholarships available to help with costs associated with projects and events. To find out more please visit our scholarships and awards page

Are there any photos from previous events that I can use?

Yes, we make all our photos from the available on our Flickr account, please feel free to download and use these. If you are using it for editorial or commercial uses, please add attribution to "Institution of Mechanical Engineers".
