An Acceleration Run-Off for the fastest 6 cars is planned to immediately follow the main Acceleration event on Saturday. Please refer to the event timetable for confirmation of timings, but also listen out for PA announcements. Please see Rule D5 in the Rules for the Acceleration Run-Off procedure.

To gain access to Silverstone, you will require accreditation.

Accreditation will be issued in advance via email as an e-ticket and must be presented on arrival at live event. The e-ticket can either be printed at home to bring with you as a hard copy or shown on your smartphone screen (make sure your device is charged ahead of arrival!). Only those eligible to attend the live event will be issued with an e-ticket.

On arrival to Silverstone, you need to show your e-ticket and all registered and paid for team members will be issued with wristband accreditation at registration on Wednesday, which will be required in order to gain access to the venue from Thursday – Sunday. The wristbands feature RFID tags with your contact details. These tags can be scanned at sponsor and partner exhibition stands, should you wish to share your details with potential future employers, contacts and/or suppliers. All team members will be required to sign a consent form on receipt of their wrist band. The wristbands are festival style, secure and tamper proof and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. If you are worried that your wristband has become loose or the secure fastening is not functioning correctly, return it to event officials at the Accreditation Centre (Customer Corner) where you can exchange it for a new one.

Awards ceremonies will take place on Saturday and Sunday evenings in the Pavilion. Please refer to the event timetable for confirmation of timings.

The Business Plan Presentation event for all teams will take place at the Silverstone UTC, opposite the National Pit straight. The walking route is via Copse tunnel.

Please refer to the venue map for directions. If you wish to use Apple Mac hardware, you must provide a Thunderbolt to HDMI/VGA adapter. Power / connector cables will not be available to hire from event officials. Each team will need to bring:

• A laptop (with a fully charged battery) containing their presentation
• HDMI or VGA cable to connect laptop to screens / projectors
• 3.5mm jack for audio (if applicable to your presentation)

Please note: You should allow at least 15 minutes to walk to Silverstone UTC from the National Paddock and you should aim to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled presentation time. To comply with UTC safety protocols, all team members are required to sign in and out so allow at least 10-15 minutes prior to your judging slot for this.

The Business Plan Presentation Final for FS and Concept Class, will take place during the live event on Saturday 18 July 2026 in the Pavilion. Please check event timetable for confirmation of time. The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday 18 July 2026.

Due to the recent long dry/hot weather which is set to continue over the coming days we have been asked by the Fire Protection Department to review our policy on barbeques.  With the ground being extremely dry the risk of a fire taking hold and spreading is elevated, particularly in areas where vehicles are parked (hot exhausts) and where barbeques are being used.   With this in mind, we have taken the decision that disposable and charcoal barbeques are not permitted on the campsite in 2026; you may use a built for purpose gas or barbeque providing it is raised off the ground and set up a clear distance way from tents/gazebos.  Open fires/fire pits are also not permitted, and we request that you be mindful if smoking and ensure cigarettes are fully extinguished before being disposed of, do not put cigarettes out on the ground.

All Silverstone food outlets accept card payments only.

Team members are encouraged to wear their branded uniforms and clothing but must adhere to the following safety requirements for the safety of themselves and others:

DO:

• In hot areas (where cars are running) ensure arms and legs are covered at all times
• Wear fully enclosed shoes. We recommend safety shoes / boots to protect feet and ankles
• Dress for British weather! Ensure you can protect yourself from heat / sun, wind and rain by having hats, sunglasses and water/wind proof layers
• Wear any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issued to you by your university, by event officials or as stipulated as a[NR1]  requirement in the Rules, appropriate for working on cars or car parts

DO NOT:

• Wear shorts, sleeveless or short sleeved tops in hot areas or whilst working in or around vehicles
• Wear flip flops or sandals in hot areas or whilst working in or around vehicles
• Don’t forget sunscreen!

Concept Class teams will be provided space in the Woodcote Suites to work during Wednesday,  Thursday and Friday.  Teams will be allocated space with a trestle table and 4 chairs per team. Please do not bring your chassis onsite as there will not be space for them.

Access details to follow.

Design and Cost Judging for all classes will take place in the Pavilion: times for individual judging will be published in the judging schedule nearer the event. For clarity: Concept teams need to take their team members and their parts to the Pavilion at their appointed judging time. There is no Design Final for Concept teams.

Business Plan Presentation judging will take place at the Silverstone UTC (see also ‘Business Plan Presentation’). Concept Class awards presentations will take place predominantly on Saturday evening but the overall winner on Sunday.

Concept Class team photo is combined with the main IMechE event photo this year.

The Cost & Manufacturing Final is a closed event and will take place on Saturday evening in the Pavilion. Refer to the event timetable for confirmation of time and location. Timings and preparation requirements will be communicated to all finalists directly. The results will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday.

Please refer to Rule IN1.3.1 regarding all cars to accommodate the IMechE and Scrutineering approval decals. The car weight label will also be affixed in this area.

Running cars need to allow an 8cm x 8cm space on the right side of the cockpit for the driver activity check, which is used for the dynamic events.

The Clerk of the Course and Safety Briefing will take place during the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 15 July 2026*.

The Clerk of the Course Driver Briefings will take place at the following times:

Saturday: 07:45* Pavilion (All Drivers to attend)

Sunday: 07:45* Pavilion Endurance (Endurance Drivers only)

*Refer to the event timetable for confirmation of times.

Attendance is mandatory. Drivers will be issued with a different wristband following each briefing, on departure from the Pavilion, as confirmation of attendance.

STRICTLY No briefing wristband = No drive!

It is recommended that all drivers familiarise themselves with marshal flags in the Motorsport UK National Competition Rules 2026 which are included in Appendix 1 of this handbook, prior to event.

Refer to T13 in the Rules for full list of Drivers’ equipment requirements.

The use of drones, is strictly prohibited by the venue operators, Silverstone Circuits Ltd except there is one sanctioned drone usage in 2026 by the Event officials. Anyone else found to be in breach of this may be ejected from the venue, unable to continue with the competition and, in extreme cases, subject to prosecution for breach of the Civil Aviation Authority’s Air Navigation Order 2016. See also ‘Filming’.

Note where these are located and the times these activities are operating. Refer to the event timetable for confirmation of times.

All activities will close at the time defined in the official event timetable and you will not be permitted to run after these times, even if you are in the queue.

Please note: Weather and other conditions may alter the activities open times, amended only at the Official discretion of the event officials. Updates will be posted online and communicated via Public Address (PA) announcements where possible.

Teams will be given their running order for the Endurance based upon their time recorded in the Sprint event. This running order will be determined by event officials and announced no later than one hour before the timetabled start time for the Endurance event and online via PA announcement.

For all dynamic activities, access to the assembly area is restricted to 1 driver + 3 team members (which may include a second driver) per team. Only team members with Team Hot Area tabards (pink) will be permitted access to the dynamic areas.

• Raise the Alarm
  • Blow the Emergency whistle and radio Marshall Control on Channel 3.
• Remove yourself from danger
  • Evacuate the Garage or area around the emergency, getting everyone away from the danger.
• Report the incident
  • All incidents, however minor should be reported to event officials (this includes minor injuries and near misses).

Emergency Response

Any incident, however minor, should be reported to event officials immediately. Emergencies and serious incidents MUST be reported to Marshal Control on Radio Channel 3.

If you do not have a radio, you should blow the emergency whistle located in your garage. Blow the whistle loudly and repeatedly to attract attention, keep blowing the whistle until help arrives.

There will be a whistle in each of the garages for anyone to blow to attract attention in the event of an emergency.

Fire

On discovering a fire, report to Marshal Control on Radio Channel 3 immediately, stating your name and location. If you do not have a radio, you should blow the emergency whistle located in your garage.

Only attempt to fight fires if you are trained and confident in doing so.

A dedicated Fire Tender will be on site during event operating hours, this will be despatched to the location of the fire by Marshall control or event officials.

Serious Medical Incidents

Between 08.00 – 18.00. If you, or someone close by, requires emergency medical assistance e.g. a severe burn, collapse or choking, alert an event official immediately or blow the whistle in your garage to attract attention. The incident MUST be reported to Marshal Control on Radio Channel 3, stating your name, location and nature of the emergency. Emergency Medical assistance will directed to your location.

Minor medical incidents

For minor incidents such as small cuts, grazes, or similar, please report to the event Officials at Information Point who will contact Marshal Control via Radio Channel 3 and advise on what action to take.

Please do not proceed directly to the Medical Centre. Mobile medics are available to respond to all medical calls.

After 18:00: The Silverstone Medical Centre is open between 18.00 – 23.00 each evening. Event officials will be located within the paddock area, so should you require urgent medical assistance please raise the alarm by blowing the emergency whistle.

In the case of a minor medical incident please speak to any of the event officials in the paddock who will be able to direct to you or organise the appropriate medical response.

Unattended Item

Should you discover an unattended bag or package, consider HOT characteristics:

• Hidden – does the item appear to have been concealed from view or hidden?
• Obvious – is it obviously suspicious? Does it look like a device of some sort or is it emitting smoke or a strange smell? If it is a vehicle, does it look abandoned?
• Typical – is the item something you would expect to see in the area?

Try to establish quickly and calmly if it belongs to anyone in the vicinity. If the owner is not identified, move away from the item and report to Marshal Control on Radio Channel 3, stating your name and location.

Do your best to keep passers by at least 100m distance from the item or 500m from a vehicle. Do not use mobile phones within 15m of the item.

Energy Meters will be issued to all EV Team Leaders at EV Scrutineering. All EVs must be fitted with one of these and under no circumstances can teams fit their independently sourced energy meters and connection components

Engines may be run in the engine running area provided the car has passed the chassis, safety and tech inspections and the following conditions are satisfied:

1. There is a marshal/official present who has visually checked your car for chassis, safety and tech stickers - if there is no marshal present, please be patient and do not start your engine before they return
2. The car is on an adequate stand
3. The drive wheels are at least 10.2cm (4in) off the ground or the drive wheels have been removed

No work should be undertaken underneath the vehicles while the engine is running and a hazard triangle must be in place to warn pedestrians.

Fire extinguishers must be close by the vehicle and readily accessible at all times.

• All team members must be trained in the
  correct use of fire extinguishers
• A fire extinguisher must accompany the car, carried
  alongside it, wherever it is moved in the paddock.
• A team member must hold a fire extinguisher
  ready whenever the engine is running in the
  engine running area.

There are various film crews and photographers working on behalf of the IMechE and our partners and sponsors. If you do not wish to be filmed, please advise event officials in the Information Point underneath Race Control.

The official photographers of Formula Student will be providing a professional photography service to all of the competing teams. The photos will be on the IMechE Flickr page during and after the event to download and use free of charge.

Team Participant Media Representative

As your team’s designated media representative, you will receive a yellow tabard featuring your team’s car number as part of your Team Welcome Pack during Wednesday's Team Registration (see 'Sign On & Registration'). Only one tabard will be issued per team, but it can be shared among team members, as long as it is worn by only one person at a time. The tabard must be worn at all times to ensure proper identification by event officials and Marshals. Please follow all instructions provided by event officials.

For those who wish to be closer to the action, a Student Press Area will be available for access while your team’s car is on the Sprint and Endurance tracks.

FS AI teams will have allocated space in the FS-AI Technology Hub on Bakersville (outside the Paddock, opposite Race Control. The ADS-DVs will also be housed here. Please check the ‘Timetable’ section for the FS-AI dynamic events and locations.

Design, Real World AI and Simulation Development events will be held in the Brooklands Suite and Business Plan Presentation events will take place at Silverstone UTC. Teams should present to judges according to the judging schedules.

A free supply of sustainable fuels (SUSTAIN 100 95RON E10 and SUSTAIN RACING 100E) will be available onsite all four days (Thursday – Sunday) of the competition, supplied by Coryton Fuels and dispensed by RAWCO. No open fuel containers are allowed and all fuel containers must be DOT approved.

Once at the competition site cars can only be fuelled at the FS Fuel Station and draining and refilling of fuel in places other than the FS Fuel Station is prohibited.

Waste oil can be disposed of in the oil waste receptacles in the Support Paddock. Cars which need to be drained at the end of the event prior to transportation must be taken to the Fuel Station by the deadline of 1 hour after the end of the Endurance event on Sunday.

All teams with running cars have been allocated their garage space, this will be published online.

FS-AI Class Teams:

All FS-AI DDT teams will be allocated space in the FS-AI Technology Hub, where the ADS-DVs will also be housed. This area is located on Bakersville (outside the Paddock, opposite Race Control).

You’ll be granted early access between 10:00 and 14:30, once your team has completed registration at Customer Corner. Please ensure you arrive within that window to allow for a smooth setup. IMechE staff will be on hand to assist with team registration. After 14:30, your registration process will move to the Pavilion so after 14:30 you will not be able to do the full registration process but will need to go to the Pavilion.

Formula Student Class Teams:

Each garage will accommodate a maximum of 8 teams, with space divided into 6m deep x 4m wide pits for each team.

Access to the garages will be available from 14:00 on Wednesday on a controlled first come, first served basis from the collecting area in Car Park 49. Teams will be allocated a reasonable amount of time to unload at their garage before support vehicles need to leave the paddock.

Vehicles will not be permitted to access the Paddock from 18:00 on Wednesday 15 July to approximately 17:30 on Sunday 19 July. If your team arrives from Thursday onwards, please proceed to the Accreditation Centre (Customer Corner) to obtain the necessary pass for unloading into the Support Paddock You will need to carry your kit or push your cars into the Paddock. If there is no space in the Support Paddock to park, you may unload there and then drive the support vehicle to Centre Car Park 2 to park for the duration of the event.

This will be located in the garage under Race Control and will be open and attended by event officials during the following times:

Wednesday: 14:00-23:00

Thursday-Saturday: 08:00-23:00

Sunday: 08:00-16:00

All Formula Student team members across all classes (Concept, FS and FS-AI) must complete an MSUK event declaration via their team member account prior to attendance at any live event, in accordance with the Key Dates document.

By completing the MSUK event declaration, team members are covered by the MSUK Certificate of Exemption which provides £100m Public Liability Insurance cover for all activity at the event under permit. Evidence of cover letters are available on the Motorsport UK website. 

As well as this, all participating teams (Concept, FS and FS-AI) must ensure that the following insurance cover is in place prior to attending the event:

• Public Liability Insurance (minimum indemnity level of £10 million)
• Employers’ Liability Insurance
• For international teams: equivalent Workers Compensation cover for attending faculty advisors/staff
• For non-UK residents: appropriate travel and medical insurance

Please note that all insurance policies must be valid for activities taking place in the UK.

We require proof for both of the below to be uploaded onto the Team leader FS Portal account under “My details”, “Live event team insurance”

• Public Liability Insurance (minimum indemnity level of £10 million)
• Employers’ Liability Insurance

Teams that do not provide valid evidence of insurance ahead of the event will not be covered and therefore will not be permitted to participate in the event.

It is your responsibility to know where you need to be and when. A master copy of the Judging Schedule will be held at the Information Point under Race Control.

Formula Student and Concept Class Engineering Design and Cost & Manufacturing Judging will be in the Pavilion. Formula Student teams, please take your car/parts to the Pavilion.

Formula Student and Concept Class Business Plan Presentation Judging will be in Silverstone UTC. FS AI Design, Real World AI and Simulation Development event Judging will be in Brooklands on the Second Floor.

Please do not arrive any more than 15 minutes early for your judging session or you will be asked to return to your pits in order to minimise crowding.

Please also be advised that there is a limit of 10 team members permitted to attend each Design and Cost judging session. Some swapping of students (i.e. one in, one out) will be permitted but additional team members will not be permitted into the Pavilion to spectate due to strict capacity limits.

Event officials will operate paddock patrols during the hours that the event site is open to teams each day. Teams must adhere to any and all instructions issued by event officials.

Support vehicles may park in the allocated area next to the Support Paddock or in the general team and FS visitor car park, inside the venue payline, as directed by the traffic marshals. There is separate parking designated for Officials parking.

• Parking is available onsite at Silverstone, but access to car parks is managed and restricted. All teams can park in Car Park 49, located off the Boulevard just outside the Main Entrance of Silverstone (see map below).
• Vehicle access through main gate is restricted and only permitted with the relevant vehicle pass. If required, each team will be issued with the following:
• 2 x STUDENT vehicle passes to park in Centre Car Park 2. This vehicle pass is NOT for unloading in the paddock, it’s for parking in Centre Car Park 2 only. These vehicle passes are issued onsite from the Accreditation Centre (Customer Corner). To receive your Student Vehicle parking pass, you should park in car park 49 and walks across to the Accreditation Centre (Customer Corner) to collect. IMechE staff will log who from your team collects the passes to ensure that no more than two passes per team are issued (the names of the students collecting will be logged)

• The student support/unloading vehicle will be granted access to the National Paddock from 14:00-18:00 on Wednesday 15 July with the appropriate pass issued. For details, refer to Arrival and Unloading Instructions.
• If any team member has accessibility needs, please contact us as soon as possible at fs@imeche.org. We have a limited number of reserved accessible parking spaces near the Paddock and will do our best to accommodate requests.

• Vehicle access is through main gate and only permitted with the relevant vehicle pass. If required, each team will be issued with the following:
• 1 x STUDENT UNLOADING vehicle pass for WEDNESDAY ONLY to unload in the National Paddock and then park in the Support Paddock until Sunday. When the Support Paddock becomes full, support vehicles must park in Centre Car Park 2. The support vehicle needs to remain parked for the duration – it cannot drive in and out of the circuit on different days as the pass is only valid on Wednesday. To receive your Student Unloading Vehicle pass you will need to go to car park 49, park temporarily and walk to collect the pass from the Accreditation Centre (Customer Corner). Once you have received your unloading pass, you will need to wait in car park 49 until the support vehicles are permitted entry. There will be a dedicated queuing/holding area for student support vehicles and you will be given an entry order number on arrival. Entry during the period 14:00 - 18:00 will be done in batches of 5 – 10 vehicles so the paddock doesn’t become overwhelmed and causing gridlock to the internal roads and delays onsite.

Teams can unload for 1 hour. The time that you enter the paddock, your garage number and your university name will be noted on your vehicle pass and you will be asked to move if you stay longer than 1 hour.

• Vehicles will not be permitted to access the Paddock from 18:00 on Wednesday 15 July to approximately 17:30 on Sunday 19 July. If your team arrives from Thursday onwards, please proceed to the Accreditation Centre (Customer Corner) to obtain the necessary pass for unloading into the Support Paddock (as shown below). You will need to carry your kit or push your cars into the Paddock. If there is no space in the Support Paddock to park, you may unload there and then drive the support vehicle to Centre Car Park 2 to park for the duration of the event.

Vehicles without a valid vehicle pass will not be allowed access to the venue.

The following apply: A6 Formula Student Rules 2026

The use of motorcycles, quads, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades or similar person carrying devices by team members and spectators in any part of the competition area, including the paddocks, is prohibited.

Smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, is prohibited in all enclosed areas including (but not limited to) grandstands, garages, marquees, the UTC and Woodcote Suites. It is also strictly forbidden in the pit lane, on the race circuit and in all hot areas. If you need to smoke, please do so only in well ventilated, outdoor open areas, well away from others and dispose of your cigarettes responsibly in nominated areas.

Results

Results will be displayed at the Information Point underneath Race Control. An announcement will be made over the PA system when these are available. In the event of any dispute between the online and master Results, then the master Results displayed at Information Point will be taken as the correct version.

Protest

Please refer to Rules A3.7 for clarification of the protest protocols. If you wish to lodge an official protest regarding the published scores, please visit the Information Point and state the event result(s) you wish to protest. Info Point staff will then contact the relevant official.

Feedback

Cost and Manufacturing, Engineering Design and Business Plan Presentation feedback will be provided in the following ways:

• Business Plan Presentation: Teams will be given verbal feedback immediately after their presentation. Each Team Leader has been sent a copy of the recording of their team’s Business Plan Presentation including verbal feedback. Teams are strongly encouraged to attend the Business Presentation Final on Saturday as this will allow you to watch the finalists and will answer many common questions.
• Cost and Manufacturing: Feedback will be emailed to all teams after the event.
• Teams will be provided with (time limited) verbal feedback at the Judging session wherever possible. Individual Design Score Sheets will be emailed to teams after the event: the timing being dependent upon volunteer work commitments.

A special note must be made of the ‘Rules of Conduct’ in Rule A3 as detailed under the Formula SAE regulations and the Formula Student specific Rules.

Any violation of these Rules by a team member may lead to disqualification from the competition of that participant’s entire team.

Any person considered to be contravening the Rules banning the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons or other illegal material will automatically be expelled along with their entire team.

Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1975, we all have a duty of care to ourselves and others who may be affected by our actions or omissions. This means that not only must we conduct our duties in a safe manner, but we should be vigilant for any unsafe practices carried out by others. As Event Organisers, we have put together the Health & Wellbeing Charter which you will find on our website. Examples of unsafe practices include misuse of equipment, not wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), conducting hot works outside of designated areas, working on accumulators outside of the designated areas and without an Electrical Systems Officer present (see EV Protocols document) and working whilst tired or under the influence or alcohol or other substances. Motorsport is, by its very nature, dangerous. This is not, however, a justification to condone unsafe practices. In general, common sense prevails and if something feels or looks unsafe to you, it should be discontinued immediately and challenged.

A Paddock Safety Team will patrol the garages each day and night whilst teams are onsite (see also Paddock Safety Team). If you observe anything you deem unsafe and do not feel comfortable challenging it yourself, speak to a member of the Paddock Safety Team who are identified by their green tabards.

Scrutineering will begin on Wednesday with the queue order published at Information Point from Wednesday 15 July: download here.

It is the team’s responsibility to leave Scrutineering if there is a clash with a scheduled static event. If you have to leave then please inform the Scrutineering queue monitor so that your re-entry to the Scrutineering process can be managed when you return.

Scrutineering is split into the areas described below. Teams will be directed which area to head to from the queue and after they pass through each area.

Electric Vehicles: For EVs only, EVs must have their accumulators removed from the vehicle before attempting scrutineering for the first time. The accumulator must only be reinstalled to the vehicle when given permission to do so by the EV Scrutineering team.

Safety: Conducted by the on-site Motorsport UK Scrutineers. Driver’s Equipment, Steering, Suspension, Brakes and Driver’s Harnesses are all inspected here.

Chassis: Vehicle is weighed and then checked to confirm that it is built as described in the team’s SES and IAD submissions. Don’t forget to bring any relevant physical test samples or receipts for purchase.

Tech: The vehicle is checked for compliance with all other technical Rules. Some items covered in Safety or Chassis scrutineering may be reinspected. Driver Egress checks are also completed in this section, on Thursday at least this will be for the tallest driver only. Once all of the above sections are passed the team may attempt the remaining scrutineering areas in the order described below.

Fuel (IC only): All IC vehicles must proceed to the fuelling station before entering Tilt. Tilt: The vehicle rollover stability is checked, during which there must be no fluid leaks from the vehicle.

Noise: The exhaust noise level of IC vehicles and the ready to drive sound for EV vehicles are checked here. Brake: The braking performance of all vehicles is checked here.

Once scrutineering for all of the above areas have been successfully completed the vehicle is then eligible to attempt the Dynamic Events.

Team Registration

• Registration takes place Wednesday 15 July from 14:00-17:30 in the Pavilion
• To gain access to Silverstone on Wednesday 15 July you must have your pre-event QR code (the one emailed to you) available to present to security staff. Without this QR code you will not be able to access the site.

• Access is permitted to the site from 14:00 for pedestrians (Gate 5 and Gate 20) and vehicles (Main Gate 19).
• For vehicle access and on-site parking please refer to the Parking section.
• Note: FS-AI Class teams will be permitted earlier access from 10:00 (subject to Completing the Arrival Registration Procedure at Customer Corner).

IMPORTANT:

• Where possible, please ensure that all team members attend registration together.
• Wristbands cannot be collected on behalf of others – anyone not present must follow the Late Registration process.
• All team members must have completed pre-event indemnities via the FS Portal – this will be checked at registration.
• All teams will be required to show proof of insurance if it has not been pre-loaded to the FS Portal. Please see our Insurance Policy here for details. Teams that do not provide valid evidence of insurance ahead of the event will not be covered and therefore will not be permitted to participate in the event. 
• Your Faculty Advisor must attend registration on Wednesday, in line with competition rules.
  • If your Faculty Advisor arrives on Thursday, they will need to follow the Late Registration instructions.
  • If they are arriving after Thursday, or unable to attend at all, they must email a signed letter to fs@imeche.org, nominating a responsible person for team conduct and behaviour during the event.

Registration packs contain the following:

All teams

• RFID accreditation wristbands* (can only be issued to individuals, cannot be collected on behalf of others)
• Event guide

FS and FS-AI only

• 4 x Pink and 1 x Yellow Tabard with number corresponding to car number
• Driver wristbands – numbered and lettered A-F (max 6 drivers per team) numbered corresponding to car number FS only

FS-AI only

• 1x Red tabard for the individual with the “stop button”

All drivers participating in Formula Student 2026 are required to hold a valid Motorsport UK RS Clubman Licence.

The licence is free of charge and should be completed online before arriving on site.

At registration/sign-on, drivers will be asked to present proof of their RS Clubman Licence (digital or printed) before receiving their driver wristband.

Please note that drivers without a valid RS Clubman Licence will not be permitted to participate in dynamic events.

To help make registration as smooth as possible, we strongly encourage teams to ensure all drivers complete this as soon as they can, ahead of arriving at the event.

Late Registration from Thursday 16 July

If arriving after 17:00 on Wednesday 15 July, you will need to collect wristbands and registration packs from the Accreditation Centre (Customer Corner) from Thursday 16 July. The e-ticket emailed to you pre-event will allow you access to the site until the end of the day on Wednesday.

IMPORTANT: If you’re coming from the campsite, you will need to drive to Car Park 49 on Thursday morning. You will not be able to walk through Gate 5 as your e-ticket will not work. The walk from the campsite to the Circuit is not suitable for pedestrians (see opening times below).

Thursday is typically a very busy day, so please be prepared for some wait time. Registration will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of your team's judging schedule.

Daily Admission Information (E-ticket & Wristbands)

• On Wednesday 15 July, you’ll need to show your e-ticket at Gate 5, Gate 20 or at the Main Gate (if you are driving) for initial access.
• After registration on Wednesday, your wristband will be required for daily entry. Please have it ready to present to security at the main gates each day. You no longer need the e-ticket once you have collected your wristband.

IMPORTANT: If you leave the venue and plan to return the same day, ask security to scan you out when exiting. If you are not scanned out, you won’t be allowed back in until the following day.

Each day that you arrive at Silverstone, security staff will ask to see your RFID wristband and it will be scanned for admission.

If you wish to leave the venue but plan to return the same day, on any day, you must ask security staff to scan you out otherwise they will not be able to scan you back in again until the following day.

The FS2026 Official Photograph will take place on Friday at 18:00 approximately (refer to the event timetable for confirmation of time). All FS, FS-AI and Concept Class teams are welcome to join!

The official event timetable is published online and a master copy will be displayed on the at the Information Point underneath Race Control. In the event of any dispute between the online and master timetable, then the master timetable displayed at the Information Point will be taken as the correct timetable.

Teams can pick up their transponders from 9am Friday morning from Info Point. Teams will be required to sign for the transponder and they must be returned to the Information Point within 30 minutes of the close of the Endurance event on Sunday. Non-return will incur a fee of £500 + VAT.

Driving off-site (out of the paddock) is absolutely prohibited. Teams found to have driven their Formula Student car at an off site location, including the campsite, during the period of the competition will be disqualified from the competition.

Hot Works

For simplicity, hot works is defined as ‘the use of open fires, flames and work involving the application of heat or sparks by means of tools or equipment’. A dedicated space for hot works and welding is located in Garages 14-16.

Team members wishing to conduct hot works must report to this area with their Faculty Advisor*, who must accompany the team members whilst conducting any hot working. The team members and Faculty Advisor will be required to sign in and out of this area. There are no exceptions – no Faculty Advisor, no hot working. Welding

We have a dedicated welding and hot works facility in Garages 14-16 which is available at the following times:

Thursday 09:00-20:00
Friday 09:00-20:00
Saturday 09:00-20:00
Sunday 09:00-15:00

All welding must take place in this dedicated area. Welding or grinding in garages is NOT permitted. At the sole discretion of the welding technicians, students may be permitted to weld provided the following criteria is met:

• Your Faculty Advisor* and team members
  requesting permission to weld have made
  themselves known to the technicians expressly
  stating their request
• The team members have and are wearing suitable
  PPE (disposable suits and gloves), including eye
  and skin protection and P3 respirators
• Completion of a safety briefing on fire, breathing
  and exposure to fumes (including correct use
  of the extraction equipment) and access in
  and around the scrutineering bay given by the
  technicians

There are no exceptions. No Faculty Advisor, no student welding.

Spray painting

All spray painting must be done in the dedicated spray painting facility gazebo just outside Hot Works. Users must provide and use appropriate PPE when carrying this out.

The earliest we can receive car shipments to Silverstone is 12:00 Tuesday 15 July 2025. There will be no one available to accept delivery before this time, your vehicle will be returned to the port and you may incur additional charges.
