Initial Professional Development (IPD) Accreditation Assessor

IPD Accreditation Assessors serve as accreditation visit panel chairs on behalf of the Professional Development Standards Committee (PDSC). Working as part of a team, the assessors utilise their expertise and knowledge to credibly assess company IPD schemes against the Institution’s competence development framework, the Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS).

The PDSC plays a crucial role in the engineering community by setting and maintaining the Institution’s standards for Initial Professional Development, primarily achieved through the accreditation process.

Requirements and training

Attend a training day virtually or at IMechE HQ.

Observing a minimum of two company MPDS Accreditation visits (conducted either virtually or In-Person).

Being observed and assessed by an experienced Accreditation Panel Chair, carrying out a further MPDS Accreditation visit to complete training.

Successful applicants will be selected by the PDSC.

I get exposed to other parts of the Engineering community allowing me to get insights and learn from different parts of engineering and share learning and experiences from my career.
