Brief competition info

1. Online competition utilising the social media platforms of IMechE
2. Voting by considering the most amount of ‘Likes’ on IMechE’s LinkedIn or Facebook.
3. Timeline:
• Launch: 7 Oct 2024
• Closing date: 10 Nov 2024
• Uploaded for online voting: 11 – 24 Nov 2024
• Evaluation period: 25 Nov - 13 Dec 2024
• Result: 18 Dec 2024.

Eligibility

Any IMechE membership level in the 7 international regions. Individual or group (maximum of 3 members) submission

Digital poster submission:

1. Photo(s) (Max 2 photos) of You/Group in action for STEM
2. Maximum of 300 words description of the story
3. Maximum 2MB file size

Evaluation criteria:

20% number of likes/votes (online system) + 80% evaluation by IYMC and YMB (3 judges)

  • 2^nd: 18%
  • 3^rd: 15%
  • 4^th – 5^th: 10%
  • Other number of votes: 5%
  • None: 0%
• Creativity of the page design (20%) + Impact (ambitious (20%) + encouragement (20%), inspiration (20%)) of the activity in promoting IMechE/STEM

Categories:

1. Empowering STEM: Recognize outstanding efforts in promoting STEM education and awareness. This category recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting STEM education and awareness. Focus area but not limited to: Outreach programs, educational initiatives, or inspiring content related to STEM.
2. Professional Growth Journey: Highlight inspiring career paths in STEM. This category highlights individuals’ professional development in pursuing or supporting professional progression and membership. Focus area but not limited to: Journey of transition to higher IMechE memberships such as from Affiliates to Associates or Associates to Member, from academic pursuits to professional careers in STEM, personal narratives, mentorship experiences, or career advice related to STEM.
3. International STEM Synergy: Celebrate global partnerships and achievements in STEM. This category celebrates individuals or groups who have fostered international collaboration and engagement in STEM projects or initiatives. Focus area but not limited to: Cross-cultural partnerships, global research projects, or international STEM events.

1. Empowering STEM (1st Prize: £300 + Certificate; 2nd Prize: £200 + Certificate)
2. Professional Growth Journey (1st Prize: £500 + Certificate; 2nd Prize: £300 + Certificate)
