11 December 2024, London: enjoy an evening lecture, panel discussion and Q&A session addressing safety and performance of human-controlled systems in a time of increased automation.
This evening lecture open to all and is free to attend; to register your place please visit the event website.
This year's Thomas Hawksley prestige lecture will explore how engineers can improve and assure the safety and operational performance of human-engineering controlled systems, together with considerations for the design of autonomous or semi autonomous systems across the transport sector.
Let by a presentation by Professor Sarah Sharples, Chief Scientific Advisor for the Department for Transport and University of Nottingham, the lecture will also feature a panel discussion that will explore both industry-specific and cross-sectoral implications, together with the opportunity for questions from the audience.
Following the evening’s technical proceedings, all attendees are invited to a networking reception to connect with existing friends, forge new connections, and to continue discussion on the lecture's themes and topics. The evening will conclude with an optional 3-course dinner in the Institution's historic library, with places available on a first-come, first served basis.
To join this year's Thomas Hawksley lecture, please register your place via the event website and we look forward to welcoming you to our London headquarters in December.
