Jill DwyerJill Dwyer

Defence Liaison Officer

Jill joined the Institution as Business Development Executive in 2012 and became Defence Liaison Officer in September 2016. She has a background in marketing and communications and has also worked as a language teacher both in the UK and in France and enjoys interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds.

She chose to work at the Institution because she was inspired by the role of engineering in society and the importance of encouraging more young people into the profession.

In her role as Defence Liaison Officer, Jill is the primary link with engineers and technicians from the UK Ministry of Defence (both military and civilian). She also works with other defence-related organisations. She supports professional development and membership of the Institution at all levels, providing personal advice, presentations, workshops and other events to help encourage professional registration.

The support includes advising on the most appropriate routes towards professional registration and offering guidance on the application process, from drafting a submission to preparing for interview.

As professional registration becomes ever more important within the Armed Forces and the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation, Jill is well placed to give advice on the benefits of professional registration, and how this can support professional development. She is also able to offer advice on how professional registration can improve employment prospects for military personnel transitioning to civilian employment.
