Lead Engineer, John Crane UK Ltd
Murat has over 15 years of experience in engineering. At present, he manages a team of four mechanical engineers responsible for global technical support, product training, research, and the development of rotating equipment couplings at John Crane’s Trafford Park facility in Manchester. Murat founded John Crane’s simulation user group in 2018 which currently engages over 180 engineers and manager globally.
Murat previously chaired the IMechE Lancashire Area Committee and still volunteers for various committees within the North West Region and Greater Manchester, including Process and Power Industries Division centres. He also represented Process Industries at the IMechE’s Young Members Board before recruiting a new representative.
In addition to facilitating various technical events and STEM activities, Murat also chairs Professional Review Interviews and is a Supported Registration Scheme mentor.
Murat previously contracted at Airbus Broughton facility as a Manufacturing Engineer and helped standardising wing assembly and testing procedures for A380 and A320 aircrafts through lean manufacturing principles. He then moved to Trelleborg Offshore UK Ltd and later to BMP Europe Ltd as a subsea cable protection equipment product design and development engineer. Murat has filed a commercialised patent titled “Ducting” for subsea cable protection with exceptional performance in testing, installation, and operation.
