2024 Battery Career Portfolio

Formula Student Team

Faraday Institution outline opportunities for Formula Student team members.

The battery industry offers a diverse array of career roles from research and development to manufacturing and policymaking due to its interdisciplinary nature.

Due to under-representation of electrochemical energy storage on many science and engineering degree courses, these careers are often not visible to undergraduates looking for their next step after graduation.

The Battery Career Portfolio explores a diverse range of battery career options and resources for individual’s career development. It sits alongside other undergraduate attraction initiatives at the Faraday Institution such as Battery Day (and recording of 2024 webinar) and FUSE internships. The guide provides an overview of the battery careers, what they involve, and practical insights towards developing careers in these directions.

This resource serves as a navigational tool for students, educators, professionals, and professional bodies with insights into qualifications, skills, and career options within this dynamic industry.

It is designed for individuals at varying stages of their educational and professional journeys, from undergraduate students to seasoned researchers and industry professionals. It hopes to demystify career advancement in sustainable energy storage solutions, offering a map for those aspiring to contribute.
