Could you briefly explain your role, involvement, and experience related to the focus of this event?

Robin Elliot (RE): I am a Principal Engineer for Data Analytics at ONYX, responsible for working with owners and operators of onshore and offshore wind farms on various projects including the development and implementation of prognostic life models, reducing the cost of O&M and developing risk mitigating solutions. I am also supporting vibration condition monitoring services, software and hardware product development.

What, in your experience, has been the biggest roadblock for the industry over the past 2-3 years?

RE: The competition between turbine OEMs to continually announce larger turbines has been a big factor in their recent struggles, with shortened development cycles and supply chain issues leading to quality concerns and a crisis in OEM profitability.

What key topics are you excited to discuss at this year's conference?

RE: Turbine maintenance and reliability - practical ways to improve the efficiency of turbines, thereby lowering the LCOE (Levelized Cost of Electricity).

What do you consider to be the key areas of innovation in this industry, both in the UK and internationally?

RE: Data integration is very important to operators, combining data from multiple data sources to ensure that engineers have all the information readily available to make the best operational decisions.

Who else are you most interested in hearing from on the programme?

RE: DESNZ, as government policy is fundamental to keeping onshore and offshore wind a growing and reliable part of the energy network in the UK.

Why is it important for engineers to join this conference?

RE: This conference will provide an overview of the broader aspects of technology and innovations in the wind industry, in the UK and worldwide. Join the conference to learn about the latest developments in technology and analysis methods to lower the LCOE of the current and next generation of turbines.

The Wind Turbine User Group 2025 takes place on 14-15 May 2025 in London

Now in its third iteration, this specialised technical forum brings together representatives from across the UK wind energy community to share successes, demonstrate technical innovations, address common industry challenges and exchange ideas.

Featuring technical presentations and case studies, peer reviewed by a senior committee of engineers in the industry, the User Group agenda is specifically curated to meet the needs of all end users working with wind turbines and their related assets, both in onshore and offshore settings.

To view the full list of presentations and to book your place, visit the User Group website - book before 14 March 2025 to secure the Early Bird discount and save 10% off.
