A step further: a new Student Chapter is launched in Shanghai

The Institution's Shanghai Cluster launches its second student chapter at Tong Ji University in the North East Asia Region (NEAR)

The Heads of IMechE, including Prof Alan Lau, and Eur Ing WK Chow as well as the the Dean of Mechanical Enigneering of Tong Ji University, Prof Li Zhengrong with Associate Professor Li Xiaojiang and the student members gathered out side the Mechanical Engineering Building Hall Auditorium A101 of Tong Ji University

The stunning campus of Tong Ji University was the location for the second Student Chapter of the Shanghai Cluster in the North East Asia Region (NEAR).

The opening ceremony was led by Prof Li Zhengrong, the Dean of Mechanical Engineering of Tong Ji University. Eur Ing WK Chow introduced the origin and development process of IMechE, as well as the current status of the NEAR. Eur Ing Chow emphasized on the planned activities for NEAR, including the Design Competition (DC) as well as the Speak Out of Engineering (SOFE) as the cardinal competitions within the region and encouraged students to participate in the Regional Final of the two competitions in October. Miss Yannes Wong, Young Member Representative of Shanghai Cluster, encouraged students to actively participate in activities organized by IMechE to broaden their horizon to the fast-moving industry and joined the voluntary work so as to develop their leadership and interpersonal skills which are very curial for their future career development.

Followed by the mentor of the Tong Ji University Student Chapter, Prof Li Xiaojiang, Associate Professor of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, accompany with Prof Li Zhengrong received the Certificate from Chairman Chow marking the official establishment of the Tong Ji University Student Chapter.

After the meeting, participants gathered in front of the signature wall at the reception for pictures, a symbol of long term cooperation and friendship between Tong Ji University and IMechE.
