FS-AI Updates
FS-AI Updates

We are pleased to unveil some of the changes to the rules for FS2023 FS-AI teams ahead of the preliminary rules release at the end of October 2022.

We will merge the DDT class and ADS class into one competition, FS-AI. This means all teams can enter the event through three vehicle options:

  • Bringing their own autonomous vehicle (a reminder: this can be a previous generation chassis)
  • Sharing the IMechE ADS-DVs
  • Bringing their own ADS-DV

These vehicles will compete against each other on track and one winner trophy will be awarded.

This rule change is designed to reflect the philosophy of the use of the ADS-DV. This vehicle is designed to be an easy to use platform to encourage new teams into FS-AI. Teams are encouraged to use the shared vehicle as a testing ground for their software, while they move towards building their own autonomous FS vehicle.

Merging the classes into one makes the competition easier to enter and will encourage international teams to enter FS-AI.

A mandatory test day for all teams wanting to share an ADS-DV will be held on the week of the event in 2023. Teams must attend this day if they wish to enter FS-AI using the shared ADS-DV.

A new case study for the Real World AI static event will be announced, TBC.
