Anti-Icing Inhibitor costs

PE

I enjoyed the article about the freezing issue with aviation fuel, but it would have benefitted from an additional discussion

I enjoyed Mike Farish’s article about the fuel freezing issue with aviation fuel, but it would perhaps have benefitted from an additional discussion about why commercial airlines choose not to use fuels with Anti-Icing Inhibitor (AAI) added, as do the military.

Is it perhaps cost? He mentioned that there had already been two studies by the EASA, including one “A Survey of Fuel Anti-Ice Additives for Civil Aviation” but then omits to tell us why civil aviation has ignored the use of AAI over the years. Perhaps there is something to be learned from those whom have traditionally flown at higher altitudes.
