Institution News Team
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers warmly invites teams of up to six apprentices to register a team for the Apprentice Automation Challenge 2022.
Taking place each year, teams are tasked with designing and manufacturing a product that automates a task in the home or garden. This could be a device to help get you out of bed in the morning or it could be something to make an otherwise boring task easier and quicker.
Teams will produce and submit a report that includes a full design specification, manufacturing instructions, user manual and business case. Prototypes will be judged at the finals event in September, where teams will present their working prototypes, get feedback from a judging panel of senior engineers and receive recognition for their work.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Apprentice Automation Challenge team and we look forward to receiving your team's application before the 7 February 2022 deadline.
How to register
Registration is simple; gather the details of your team of up to six apprentices, compete the free registration form on the Challenge website before 7 February 2022 and then start brainstorming your project.
About the challenge
Held every year by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Challenge provides Apprentices with a real-world project to develop their engineering, project management and business skills.
The winners of the Apprentice Automation Challenge will not only win a trophy and £2,000, they will also have the chance to exhibit their work at the prestigious TMMX Awards, organised by Challenge supporters The Manufacturer.
