Apprentice Automation Challenge

Apprentice Automation Challenge competition update

Apprentice Automation Challenge Team

A quick overview of next steps for the 2025 Apprentice Automation Challenge competition.

Following the competition's 10th year anniversary event this September, the Institution is delighted to announce that the Apprentice Automation Challenge will be opening for registration by mid-December 2025 and we welcome all apprentice engineers to start forming a team to take part in the latest iteration of this exciting educational engineering event.

Organised by the Institution's Manufacturing Industries Division’s Young Members Committee, it engages with teams of apprentice engineers to design, develop and build a fully working system that solves a real-world problem.

All teams submit a report that includes a full design specification, manufacturing instructions, user manual and business case. The Challenge culminates in the Finals at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry, where teams are able to demonstrate their working prototypes and respond to questions from the judging panel.

Further announcements about the release of the rules and registration form will be made on the Challenge's social media channels, and in the meantime please download the AAC2025 competition poster and spread the word in your company.
