Aston Martin to invest millions in manufacturing facilities

Plans include a new chassis and pilot build facility at its Warwickshire headquarters



Luxury car manufacturer Aston Martin is to create 250 jobs at its facilities in Gaydon, Warwickshire, as the business gears up for its next generation of new sports cars.

The company's developments plan includes the creation of a new chassis and pilot build facility, new offices, and an extension of the parts and logistics storage area. The new facilities will cover an extra 10,000m2 and the major development work is due to be completed in 2015.

Keith Stanton, manufacturing operations director at Aston Martin, said: "The improvements at Gaydon are a big step forward, and the development will enable us to streamline and finesse our manufacturing processes which, in turn, will allow us to be leaner and even more competitive.

"We have the vision of being the best producer in the luxury sports car sector and a new facility, along with the support of our flexible, highly-efficient workforce, will enable us to achieve our goal."

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's design director, added: "Today’s announcement adds important detail to our ambitious plan, and underlines our wholehearted commitment to continue to design and develop the world’s most iconic sports cars through investment in numerous areas of design, engineering, manufacturing and technology."

Meanwhile, the company revealed that more than 500 applications have been submitted for the 12 places available in the latest round of its apprenticeship scheme. Aston Martin will welcome 14 new graduates to the business in 2014.
