The Institution is delighted to present Combe Mill Industrial Heritage Museum with the 133rd Engineering Heritage Award on 21 August 2022.
The award was presented by the chairman of the award committee John Wood MBE, who was accompanied by his wife Jill. The presentation went over the history of the awards which recognize pioneering engineering artefacts, locations, collections, and landmarks and celebrate the contribution of mechanical engineering to our past and present.
Combe Mill is a Grade II listed building and is the original sawmill and workshop of the Blenheim Palace Estate. Combe Mill Society, a registered charity run entirely by volunteers, now maintains and operates the mill as a working industrial heritage museum, open to the public.
Steve Foster, chairman of Combe Mill Society said, “Combe Mill is delighted and honored to receive the Engineering Heritage Award. A dedicated stream of volunteers has worked hard to restore, preserve, and demonstrate the historic mill, its people, and its place in the local community for over 50 years and this award is a tribute to all their efforts.”
