IMechE Student Chapter organised two events in Brunei during August for their yearly membership drive.
IMechE-Politeknik Brunei Student Chapter (IMechE-PB Student Chapter) organised their annual membership drive event with this year being attended by fifty three first-year students. The event began with the introduction to IMechE-PB Student Chapter and IMechE, presented by Muha,’mad Danish Zaquan Bin Muham’mad Sofri, Vice Chairperson of IMechE-PB Student Chapter, outlining the past activities and benefits of IMechE in academic aspect. The membership drive event continued with Ir. Vincent Chong, Honorary Secretary of IMechE Brunei Group, presenting on career guidelines in Brunei Darussalam before Amirul Bin Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Ahmad, Chairman of IMechE Brunei Group, elaborated on the role of IMechE towards the career of the students in the future. The event ended with group photo of all attendees.
Thirty newly-enrolled Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) students, consisted of first-year undergraduates and postgraduates, attended the membership drive event organised by IMechE-UTB Student Chapter. The event started with the opening remark from Ir. Dr. Denni Kurniawan, Programme Leader of Mechanical Engineering, UTB, to welcome the students as well as the invited guest speaker, Ir. Chin Lee Tuck, Deputy Chairman of IMechE Brunei Group. The Membership Drive then continued with Ir. Chin Lee Tuck introducing IMechE to the students as well as informing the pivotal role of IMechE in advancing the field of mechanical engineering. The event ended with a presentation of token of appreciation to Ir. Chin Lee Tuck followed by a group photo.
