UK should be thinking about where the energy is going to come from to power our nation in 2030 and beyond

With the excitement generated over the announcement of the HS2 route, the news that Centrica have pulled out of investing in building the much need next generation nuclear power stations in the UK seems to have passed by with little concern.

This was the last British company with an interest.

Perhaps the nation should be thinking more about where the energy is going to come from to power our nation in 2030 and beyond, rather than shaving 30 minutes off a commute.

Is it acceptable for Britain to be totally dependent on overseas investment for our basic energy supplies?

Is our own nuclear industry not capable of designing and building nuclear generating ‘units’ which could even be exported?

I imagine that the will exists within the engineering and scientific sectors, it is the political will which is shying the issues.

Somehow, I think I can answer these questions myself, but then again, I am being accused of being like Marvin by my family these days...
