As a Student Member, learners have great opportunities to sample the products and services and the fantastic networking opportunities IMechE provides, all free of charge.

Using the library, taking part in the Challenge events and STEM outreach, getting involved with the local committee, meeting like-minded people, making connections and having fun all demonstrate the value that student membership can unlock.

After graduation, the next step on your way to gaining one of our globally recognised qualifications is Associate membership, AMIMechE. You can use the tools that we have developed to record your achievements in the workplace and meet the UK SPEC 4 competence requirements and access support that you may not have in the workplace. Then, when you are ready, you can become professionally registered.

Associate membership is a great way of showing employers, peers, customers and suppliers that you are committed to the profession and your own professional development, whether you want to progress in your current role or land that dream job.

You can explore some great member profiles, access information on eligibility and fees and find your application form to upgrade on the website.

The Membership Development Team at IMechE provide support and expert advice to engineers wishing to gain professional qualification. Get in touch with your query on mdm@imeche.org and we can arrange a 1:1 meeting with you to discuss your options or  arrange a site visit, if appropriate. Visit www.imeche.org/application-help for details of all the virtual workshops arranged by the team.

Associate membership allows engineers to demonstrate that they are on their way to gaining Professional Registration and qualifications that demonstrate an individual is competent, professional and part of a community of engineers across the globe.
