Novartis plans to close manufacturing site in Horsham

Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis has confirmed that it is to close its manufacturing site in Horsham, Sussex, resulting in the loss of 361 jobs.

A Novartis statement said: “This is a result of a global review of our R&D locations and where best to co-locate research teams to support collaboration. It is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to align resources to serve patients and customers better in a challenging healthcare marketplace.

”This news does not affect the rest of Novartis current UK business,” it added.
The facility, which houses Novartis's global headquarters for respiratory research, will close at the end of June.

Novartis employs more than 2,500 people in the UK. It has manufacturing sites at Grimsby, Liverpool and Dundee.
