We are delighted to announce our Chief Executive Dr Alice Bunn has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List which was published on 1 June 2022.
Alice will become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her services to the UK space sector and to charity.
Alice has been IMechE CEO since July 2021 and before joining us she worked as International Director of the UK Space Agency, responsible for increasing the UK’s global influence in science, security and trade through space.
IMechE President Phil Peel said:
“This award recognises Alice’s impressive achievements and the flair she has brought to her role in the space industry and now at the Institution where she is leading our mission to improve the world through engineering. I would like to congratulate her on behalf of the Institution on receiving this well-deserved award.”
Alice Bunn said:
“I am thrilled and very humbled by this award. The UK space sector provides a highly strategic contribution to the UK’s civil and defence capabilities, enabled by exquisite engineering. It also plays a valuable role in inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists. I hope all the amazing people working in the UK space sector will feel a sense of pride and recognition in this honour too.”
