Our subsidiary company, IMechE Fife NDT, have recently announced a strategic partnership with Sonomatic Ltd, enabling them to support the provision of accredited Radiographic testing training and examinations to clients in the Scottish region.

The new partnership will allow the utilisation of Sonomatic Ltd’s Radiography bays for practical training and examinations at their facility in Grangemouth, Scotland, whilst theoretical aspects will be delivered at the IMechE Fife NDT training facility in Dunfermline, Fife.

Training and examinations available will include initial Level 2 Radiographic testing (welds or castings), Basic Radiation Safety, Radiographic testing/interpretation refresher training and recertification examinations for PCN and SNT-TC-1A certification schemes.

We chose to partner with Sonomatic Ltd as we feel they are a reliable, dependable partner with first-class industry relevant facilities, whose values closely align with ours. This exciting new partnership allows IMechE Fife NDT to continue our ethos to instil inspector competence via our training, aiding in the provision of competent and well trained inspectors to Industry. The use of an industrial partner allows IMechE Fife NDT to conduct training in an outstanding practical environment which is only feasible via an industrial partner.

Sonomatic Ltd have been at the forefront of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections since their formation in the 1980s. Their commitment to providing accurate inspection solutions that enable clients to make informed decisions crucial to asset safety led them to recently invest in the development of new state-of-the art Radiography bays (Gamma and X-Ray).

These bays are actively used by the team to inspect components for the oil and gas, petrochemical, wind and energy sectors, meaning students attending our Radiography courses will have the opportunity to be trained in some of the best facilities, which are reflective of industry practices in a real-world environment.

The partnership provides organisations and technicians based in the Scottish region a local training provider, in many cases reducing the necessary travel time and accommodation costs without any compromise due to receiving in-depth, hands-on training by leading industry experts.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from Level 3 Consultants Andrew Fox and Kristian Hampson, who will draw upon their extensive industry experiences to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in their career.
