Institution News Team
The Institution recently hosted a drop-in event for MP's and other key stakeholders to meet with experts at the forefront of developing solutions to enable us to live with COVID-19.
Hosted in conjunction with the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, the afternoon brought together political leaders and innovators, including our Pandemic Infection Control Solutions (PICS) Task Force, who have been working from the beginning of the pandemic to mitigate COVID-19.
The event was sponsored by Amanda Solloway MP and was held at Portcullis House. Attendees heard from experts in the field including Professor Cath Noakes, and short speeches from IMechE CEO, Dr Alice Bunn OBE and IMechE President, Phil Peel.
The true stars of the event were four students from St Teresa's RC Primary School in Morden who spoke of their experience trialling air sanitisers in their classrooms. Ventilation and air quality is particularly important in places that present an increased risk due to prolonged physical contact, including schools and hospitals.
Experts from the Royal Academy Of Engineering and the Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers, recently published "Infection Resilient Environments", a report commissioned by Sir Patrick Vallance and is available to view now.
