Congratulations to the 2020-2021 Whitworth and Scholarships Award Holders

Almost one hundred talented engineers were recently invited to One Birdcage Walk for the 2020-2021 Whitworth and Scholarships Awards Ceremony.

Awards Ceremonies are always exciting occasions, however this ceremony felt particularly special being the first time the Institution honoured two years of award holders at once.

The ceremony took place in the lecture theatre at One Birdcage Walk and was also live streamed to ensure those who couldn’t attend in person did not miss out. Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon, Joanna Horton (IMechE Director of Member Operations) opened the ceremony, “it’s the first time we’ve had such a crowd in our lecture theatre since the start of the pandemic, and it’s a great feeling to dust off the cobwebs and welcome such a great group of people to the Institution today.”

We were also honoured to welcome speakers and presenters Peter Flinn (IMechE President), Terry Spall (IMechE Past President), Karl Dean (Chair of the Whitworth Awards Panel) and Laura Gilbert (President of The Whitworth Society).

After the ceremony all participants and their guests enjoyed afternoon tea within the Marble Hall and took advantage of networking time with their peers.
