IMechE leads new professional registrations in 2021

We are proud to let you know the exciting news that Engineering Council Annual Registration Report figures just in, show that IMechE achieved 2,869 new professional registrations in 2021.

IMechE saw the highest total number of new registrants across the PEI community in all the main categories of registration, incredibly this is for the 10th year in a row that we have been in number one position.

Jo Horton, Member Operations Director, said:

“A vibrant pipeline of new members is vital for the growth of our Institution. We couldn’t have achieved these impressive results without the hard work and dedication of both our staff and our Membership, Accreditation and Professional Development volunteer members giving their generous support and time to develop and register engineers and technicians at different stages throughout their careers.”

The strength of our numbers shows that professional registration is still highly valued as a mark of professionalism. The registration pathway helps the Institution support both experienced and early career engineers to develop their skills and achieve their professional goals.

Sustaining our Institution’s high standards of Professional Registration along with the important accreditation and professional development services surrounding this depends hugely on the commitment, experience and skills of our staff and volunteer communities working together. Their work showcases our values and helps us to deliver our mission of improving the world through engineering.

Our member volunteers are a hugely important part of our Institution, and their continued support of the Institution is remarkably valuable and very much appreciated, particularly considering the changes and challenges that everyone has experienced in their own working lives over the last two years.

Ralph Melhuish, Chair of the Qualifications & Membership Board added:

“This is a fantastic achievement by the all the QMB volunteers and MAPD staff family.  Without your hard work, dedication, and maintenance of high election standards these impressive Registration figures would not have been achieved.  Thank you.
