IMechE to address construction industry challenges at collocated event

Institution News Team

The Institution will host leading construction firms, safety authorities, industry regulators and sustainability experts at its London HQ.

At a time when the construction industry is under increasing pressures, engineers are at the forefront of efforts to maintain regulatory and safety standards, maximise existing budgets and identify pathways to achieve net-zero emissions milestones.

In order to support, inform and meet the needs of all those working across this sector, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers will hold its Crane Safety 2024 and Sustainable & Decarbonised Construction events on 15 October 2024 at One Birdcage Walk, London.

For the first time, engineers and professionals will have the chance to take advantage of technical presentations from both seminars taking place across the day, recognising that the construction industry must remain safe while introducing new methods to reduce emissions by 2050.

Organisations contributing across the day include representatives from Shell, Health & Safety Executive, Sir Robert McAlpine, Volvo Construction Equipment, JCB, Align JV, Mammoet, Select Plant Hire, Tata Steel and Mott MacDonald. Through technical presentations, underscored by outcomes from recent projects and case studies in industry, engineers will gain valuable insight into available technologies and take away successful strategies to ensure safe and sustainable construction projects.

Now in its eighth successive year, the Crane Safety seminar will share best practice from construction firms and lifting professionals carrying out complex lifting projects, supported by updated regulatory guidance, the use of AI and automation, and lessons-learned from across a variety of case studies from industry.

Simultaneously, Sustainable and Decarbonised Construction will showcase the ongoing efforts of engineers working toward ambitious targets to achieve carbon neutral operation, covering the use of new and eco-friendly building materials, electrification and innovative plants for reduced emissions, resource-efficient building practices and much more.

The IMechE looks forward to welcoming all engineers and professionals to its London Headquarters later in the year.

Interested organisations can also benefit from a 15% discount for group bookings of 5 or more colleagues that can be split across both events. To organise your booking or for any other enquiries, please contact Sienna Leung at the Event Enquiries team or call 0207 973 1251.
