Introduction to Aircraft and Aircraft Systems

An interactive session titled 'Introduction to Aircraft and Aircraft Systems' by Mohammad Ameen Shaikh, the Young Member Chair and Member of Aerospace Division Technical Centre, India was held at REVA University Bangalore with over 50 students in attendance.

In this session, Mohammad gave a brief introduction about aircraft design and aircraft systems. Talking about commercial aircrafts, different parts including the fuselage, wings, empennage and landing gear as well as estimating aircraft weight which includes the structure weight, passenger weight, fuel, and so on, he also talked about the design phase from the conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design and prototype.

Talking about conceptual design, he explained the various methods that followed highlighting the importance of constraint analysis. With this we could understand how to estimate the weight of aircraft and how to get the required design parameters.

He later talked about the IMechE and how its benefited to affiliate students. The virtual library and other challenges like railway challenge, UAS challenge and many more. Talking about various competitions like SoFE, GED, Tech Quiz and many more and how YM panel hosts webinars and events where they also provide networking with working professionals.
