Institution News Team
27 January, 2022 marks 175 years since the foundation of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
IMechE 175 represents an excellent opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our Institution and the huge contribution of mechanical engineering to society, whilst also inspiring a future generation of engineers.
We are delighted that Sir Patrick Vallance FRS FMedSci FRCP, the Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser, will give a special guest lecture ‘Harnessing the power of engineering to solve global challenges’ on Thursday, 27 January to launch our Anniversary year. The lecture is virtual, free of charge and open to all.
Be sure to book your place to join by 26 January at 6pm.
Interested in the history of IMechE? Visit our new 175 Virtual Archive Gallery and discover some of the key developments in the history of the Institution. The gallery includes material which has never been available digitally before.
Our celebratory events will take place throughout 2022 with a focus on how engineers can continue to deliver our mission to ‘improve the world through engineering’, particularly in the areas of climate change, transport, education, and infectious disease control.
