The Institution provides ongoing support to Mercedes AMG HPP to ensure it has world-class engineers at all levels of its business.

Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) is not only having great success on the track, but is also investing in its young engineers to ensure success in the future.

The Institution has recently approved its Technician Apprentice Scheme, and it is now part of their portfolio of career and professional development package on offer to engineers.

One of the Institution's Business Development Managers, Farah Baksh, has been working with Mercedes.

She explained: “It is great for the Institution to be working with such a high-profile, successful engineering company. It is particularly rewarding when companies work with us on Professional Development from apprentices and technicians through to their graduates and Chartered engineers. I see a long and mutually beneficial relationship as we work together for engineering success.”

Stuart Boyer, Employee Development Manager at HPP, commented: “Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains is proud to have received IMechE approval for its Engineering Technician Apprentice Scheme.

"This scheme forms a key part of HPP’s talent strategy, helping the company to grow its own world-class engineers, essential for success in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.

"HPP encourages and supports its employees to attain professional accreditation and among its team has engineers with Engineering Technician, Incorporated Engineer, Chartered Engineer and Fellow status.”

Members of the business development team within the Institution work with engineering companies, colleges and training providers throughout the UK supporting them to gain Institution approval for their apprenticeship schemes.

Applying for approval is straightforward and free of charge. Independent assessors review the application, paying particular attention to the qualifications and content embedded within a scheme as well as the assessment methods and the support provided to apprentices.

Once a scheme is approved, the organisation and its apprentices can take advantage of links to local and regional networks, support with professional development, free events and superb resources.

If you would like to find out how the Institution can support your apprentices please email the business development team at: bdm@imeche.org or email: Farah Baksh at: f_baksh@imeche.org.
