Nominations open for IMechE's Prestige Awards 2025

Deadline 30 April 2025: IMechE is delighted to announce that nominations are open for the Institution's Prestige Awards.

These well-established industry awards celebrate the outstanding contributions and innovation of those working across industry, research and academia who have advanced the field of mechanical engineering, recognising individuals and teams who have demonstrated excellence, creativity, and impact.

Whether you’ve led a ground-breaking project or know someone who has made a significant impression on the world of engineering, now is the perfect opportunity to showcase your hard work, receive international recognition and inspire others.

Nominations are open for the following awards:

  • The James Clayton Prize is awarded for exceptional contribution to mechanical engineering and related science, technology, and invention.
  • The James Watt International Gold Medal recognises an eminent engineering who has attained worldwide recognition in mechanical engineering in any direction science and research, invention, or production.
  • The Thomas Hawksley Gold Medal & George Stephenson Gold Medal are awarded for the best original papers published by the Institution during the past 12 months.
  • The Verena Winifred Holmes Award recognises those individuals who have achieved by undertaking a unique challenge or experience, perhaps to benefit people from groups with different needs, or with a past record of disadvantage or low participation (previously known as the Equality and Diversity Award).

You can nominate someone, or yourself, by completing and submitting the application form for your chosen Prestige Award by 30 April 2025. On behalf of the Prizes and Awards Committee, we look forward to receiving your nominations.
