Formula Student Team

Following their past involvement in the competition, Formula Student are pleased to announce the return of PTC as a sponsor of Formula Student 2018, which will see over 130 teams from more than 30 countries compete at Silverstone this July.

By making this move, PTC renew their commitment to supporting the next generation of engineers and are offering all competitors the opportunity to access and use their suite of product development tools. By working with PTC as a sponsor, Formula Student teams will be able to get hands-on experience of the software used by some of the world’s leading automotive, mechanical and aerospace companies including Aston Martin Racing, Penske Racing, Lockheed Martin and Caterpillar. For full details of how to sign up, simply visit PTC’s Sponsorship page.

PTC will be also be exhibiting with their main UK partner Concurrent Engineering at Silverstone, where they will be displaying and demonstrating their software products and their applications in product development for different engineering industries.

Bernhard Eberl, Director of the Global Academic Program at PTC: "Formula Student is a great example how young engineers prepare under professional circumstances for their future employment. The students learn to work interdisciplinary, find sponsors, to bring a product with industry recognized software tools to “life”. PTC is proud to sponsor the Formula Student teams with technology solutions and support for the entire product development process.”

“With more than 28,000 of the world’s leading product development companies, including many of the leading automotive and racing companies like Aston Martin Racing, Penske Racing, NASCAR, Hyundai-Kia and Harley Davidson, PTC understands the challenges students face in designing, building, developing and marketing their race vehicles."

Each team member will receive access to Creo 4.0 Educational Premium, allowing them to leverage the power of parametric design, the potential of FEA and launch AR experiences. Additionally, Mathcad Prime 4.0 allows students to do the complex calculations and directly integrate them in Creo. By using Windchill, the teams can easily and effectively manage their project. We also provide access to ThingWorx (IoT), through which they can monitor the sensors on their cars as well as access to IoT University (online training platform). This software pack is all they need to ensure a successful season.
