Rosie Wait, Head of Race Strategy at Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1, has been awarded the Adrian Reynard Motorsports Medal in recognition of her contribution to motorsport engineering at a ceremony in Silverstone.
Adrian Reynard, renowned motor racing designer and manufacturer, presented Rosie with the award which he founded with IMechE’s Automobile Division.
“Rosie is a very deserving winner of this year’s Adrian Reynard medal for her leadership of the race strategy team at Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1. She has shown great skill in an ultra-competitive and highly technical environment to deliver the right race strategy to win multiple world championships,” said Dr Tony Pixton, Member of the Institution’s Automobile Division Board responsible for prizes and awards, who was present at the ceremony.
The award recognises an individual or a team of people, working in the field of motorsports engineering, who have demonstrated an outstanding technical achievement or have made a significant contribution to the advancement of engineering in motorsports.
Rosie is on maternity leave but came to Silverstone to accept the award. Rosie has been Head of Race Strategy since 2018, during which time Mercedes-AMG Petronas has won two World Championships.
James Vowles, Motorsport Strategy Director, added:
“Rosie’s passion and drive are reason enough for this award. However further to this, Rosie’s determination to win and strive for perfection whilst never straying from our core values and culture, are exemplary.”
