Formula Student Team
Following our confirmation that vehicles entered into a previous year’s competition will be permitted in the FS2021 competition, the Formula Student committee have created addendum to the Rules and accompanying regulations for second year vehicles (2YV).
The Organising Committee has considered feedback received from teams on this matter and tried to mitigate as many concerns as possible. We have attempted to put together regulations that encourage teams to present a first year vehicle (1YV) if possible but do not discourage teams from presenting a 2YV, if that is the only option, by applying penalties. While we are distinguishing between 1YV and 2YV in Design and overall winner for FS class, teams will compete directly against each other in most events including Dynamic events.
We will also be accommodating teams who will be switching from FS Class to Concept Class late on in the competition and ensure they are not unfairly disadvantaged: these will be covered in updated Key Dates and Concept Class Rules available by the end of next week.
While we believe that these regulations offer as much fairness as possible considering the broad range of circumstances affecting over 80 entries from many different countries during a global pandemic, we welcome any feedback or questions you may have - please email us by Monday 1 March.
We will shortly be contacting all teams who we believe, following previous feedback, to be proceeding with a 2YV entry for definite i.e. advised us already that this is the only option available to them for the 2021 competition. We will confirm this and start the process of amending your team accounts - if you do not hear from us by end of Friday 5 March, but know by then that you will definitely be competing with a 2YV please get in touch with the Formula Student team.
