True wealth of any nation begins with the people who get their hands dirty
Since 2008 there have been on-going job losses concerning the white collar finance and banking sector. I sympathise with the people whose careers have been decimated - the numbers involved are in the tens of hundreds whereas in the 80s numbers were in the tens of thousands; the ending of the mining industry; the closing of all UK shipyards except naval constructors as well as their supporting companies outside with labour and materials.
Of the three million unemployed at the time most would be from manufacturing creating the loss of the seed corn-apprenticeships typically in hundreds.
Society as we knew it changed significantly during the 80s resulting in the society we know today. The true wealth of any nation begins with the people who get their hands dirty.
