Speak Out for Engineering Malaysia Heats 2022

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Speak Out for Engineering (SOfE) Malaysia Heats is back to being a face-to-face event after two years of being virtual.

The IMechE Malaysia Branch, with the assistance of the Young Members Section (YMS) has a long history of organising SOfE, with the first ever heat dating back to 2006. Thanks to this year’s SOfE Malaysia Heats event sponsor Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), the event was conducted in the library auditorium with the support from the IMechE UNITEN Student Chapter volunteers and all involved staff personnel from UNITEN. The event proved to be very popular with over 80 people in attendance.

For this year’s SOfE Malaysia Heats, four participants were present to deliver their presentations. After an intense battle of presentations, Imranah Said hailing from IMechE Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) Student Chapter was crowned the winner of IMechE SOfE Malaysia 2022 and Ammar Zoheir Barnagarwala from IMechE UNITEN Student Chapter was crowned as the runner up. Congratulations too to our young, talented participants, Soong Mingxuan and Nabiha Tasdia Zaman for the courage and passion in delivering their topic in front of the crowd.

SOfE Malaysia also serves as a platform for IMechE Members in Malaysia to give back and assist in developing future engineers. The IMechE Malaysia Branch would like to record its sincere appreciations to the honorable judges, Ms. Azalea Badrulshah and Mr. Hsien Loong who took time and traveled across Malaysia to spend their Saturday to judge the event, and also to the IMechE South East Asia Regional Young Member Representative, Dr Choon Lih Hoo for gracing the event. The IMechE Malaysia is also thankful to all who were involved in making the SOfE Malaysia 2022 a success, specifically to Ms. Rubeni, Ms. Malinda, Mr. Ronnald and the whole of the IMechE UNITEN Student Chapter for the team effort!
