Students from UET, NUST, and GIKI were invited to participate in this competition.
The competition, which is a worldwide competition, challenges young engineers to hone their presentation skills in front of a panel of technical experts and presentation specialists.
The length and breadth of knowledge that the young engineers gain through this activity is simply unparalleled. IMechE has set the benchmark for conducting activities in such a way that the engineers not only enjoy but also learn a great deal from it. With the same perspective in view, the inter-university project presentation competition was held with a variety of engineering topics in the IMechE SOfE North.
Being a part of engineering university speakers from UET, NUST and GIKI vied for top slots. They used various skills like overstatement, definition, rhetoric, irony, etc to convince the audience. The participants, armed with statistics and data validated and made their arguments more emphatic with right facial expressions, body movements, and gestures. The presenters displayed confidence in presenting their arguments before the audience and a panel of eminent judges.
Our judges were:
- Mr. Safi Ghauri (From Toastmaster Club Islamabad, Barrister)
- Mr. Fahim Ullah (Engineer /Deputy Technical Manager Testing and Calibration at Descon)
- Dr. SAIF (Assistant professor in Industrial department UET Taxila).
Presentations were given by
- Mr. Zarrar Mumtaz, SMME NUST: Thermoelectric howitzer
- Mr. Ali Asghar UET TAXILA: Adaptive Suspension System Using Magneto-Rheological Fluids
- Mr. Abdullah bin Masood, GIKI: Cube Sat
- Mr. Tahir Waqar, SMME NUST: Alternate material for the pipeline
- Mr. Nouman Satti, UET TAXILA: Water Level Sensors.
Mr. Owias Azhar recited the Holy Verses of the Quran. Then every judge was introduced by hosting panel.
First presenter, Mr. Zarar Mumtaz, masterfully showed how he worked on his project “Thermoelectric howitzer”. He worked on Thermal acceleration Mechanism, Lorentz Law of electric Propulsion. He also displayed how the prototype would look like.
The second presenter of the event was Mr. Ali Asghar, the winner of IMechE SOfE Local held at UET Taxila last year. His project was “Adaptive Suspension System Using Magneto-Rheological Fluids”, his basic intention to provide more effective suspension system in the automotive industry than being used currently.
The third presenter was Mr. Abdullah bin Masood, representing GIKI. He presented the judges with his project “Cube Sat”. He presented the dimensions of his project. The fourth presenter belonged from NUST, Mr. Tahir Waqar, from the final year. He exhibited "Alternate Materials for the pipeline". He was asked a lot of questions from the Judging panel. The judges showed interest in his project.
The fifth presenter, Mr. Nouman Satti from UET Taxila awed the audience with the idea about his project “Water Level Sensors” and gave the audience its capacitive approach. The last presenter was Mr. Abdul Rehman, representing NUST, who entertained the audience with his project of “Manufacturing of Prosthetic knee”. He also showed a prototype of his project.
At the end of SOfE North, Mr. Safi Ghauri announced the winners. He gave shields to the winners and also presented the Certificates of Participation and Appreciation to each participant.
