Tata Technologies, the global engineering services firm, has announced a new four-year graduate scheme in the UK, which is registered with IMechE.
New graduates starting in 2016 will undertake the company’s full four-year training programme, with others undertaking shortened periods due to existing completed training. All graduates will benefit from the IMechE’s Monitored Professional Development Scheme, and we expect all will apply for professional registration on completion for the industry renowned Incorporated or Chartered Engineer recognition from IMechE.
As part of the scheme, each participant will choose a mentor, with the mentor ensuring the mentee receives all necessary exposure and experiential learning in every facet of vehicle product design.
The company will have 24 new graduates starting the scheme in September 2016.
Nick Sale, chief operating officer of Tata Technologies Europe, said: “This new scheme is enormously important to Tata Technologies; it demonstrates that we take the development of engineering skills extremely seriously.
“We see this MPDS accreditation with IMechE as a natural continuation of our investment in our graduates and other employees. Our Ready Engineer programme, the internship scheme, has already been hugely successful. We have fantastically able young engineers adding both to the impressive skills that exist in our workforce and the vibrancy of our workplace.
“We are focused on helping companies bring their product development dreams to market. One of the most important aspects that companies are looking for is technical competence and credibility. They want to know that the people we have working on their products are professionally accredited, well-trained engineers.”
In 2015 Tata Technologies announced that it would be investing £16 million in a new purpose built headquarters for its European operations in Warwick. The expanded headquarters will create up to 200 additional jobs in Tata Technologies for design engineers and programme managers – creating science, technology, engineering and maths job opportunities at all levels, from graduate to more senior roles.
