YWE 2016 finalists and shortlisted candidates

SPONSORED FEATURE

Last month the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) announced the five finalists for its Young Woman Engineer (YWE) of the Year Awards.

Gemma Dalziel, Nadia Johnson, Bethan Murray Jenni Sidey and Emma Wilding were chosen for their achievements in the profession and their ability to influence the next generation of women engineers. They demonstrated an understanding of why there are so few women in STEM and what can be done to help address this issue.

Why do we run the YWE Awards?

The IET hosts these Awards every year because, in 2016, women still make up only 9% of the UK’s engineering and technology workforce.

The YWE Awards were established in 1978 to highlight the lack of women engineers in the UK but also to support and encourage the next generation of engineers.   This year, we launched our #9percentisnotenough campaign to spread the message further.

Our awards are supported and sponsored by companies who are actively looking to recruit female engineers. It is a brilliant opportunity to network with industry professionals and meet potential employers.

The ceremony is free to attend, but places are limited so why not book your free place today!
