IMechE at NUST PNEC
National University of Sciences and Technology is one of the most reputed academic institutes in Pakistan. NUST has acquired this title by not only being a quality education provider, but it also cultivates unparalleled soft skills in all the students. This is done through various opportunities and engagements in extracurricular activities often offered by societies.
Pakistan Navy Engineering College prides itself on not only being one of the prestigious colleges of NUST but also being the only institute in Pakistan to host five diverse technical societies, all of which have produced many international participants.
IMechE NUST PNEC Student Chapter is one of the most revered societies that work on campus and has been a significant contributor in enhancing the leadership and technical abilities of the students. People have always been intrigued by the leaders that exist within the Student Chapter.
The Outgoing Leads

Adeem now serves as the Young Member Chair for South Panel of IMechE Pakistan.
Baseer Siraj - Student Vice-Chair 2019-2020
Baseer joined IMechE NPSC and was immediately assigned the role of Event Lead. His leadership was right away at the display as he organized a MATLAB workshop. He led by example and showed unmatched dedication for the society.
The next role assigned to Baseer was of a Student Vice-Chair. His contributions as Vice-Chair have been exemplary. Under his guidance, Workshop on ANSYS software and personal development events like Speak Out for Engineering and Workshop 101 were also conducted. The member development made exponential progress during his tenure. One of the key elements that made Baseer a great leader was listening and giving importance to each member which helped him in developing strong connections with them. He earned himself a lot of respect by going out of his way for member development and wellbeing.
Staying calm regardless of the situation is what all great leaders possess, and Baseer has that. He brought stability to the team under crises and helped others in thinking straight. Apart from persistent calmness, Baseer brought excellent networking skills, another essential tool in a leader’s armory.
Baseer recently completed his time as Student Vice Chair and is a part of the Young Members Panel for IMechE Pakistan.

The Current Leads - Into a new era
Mahnoor Syed - Student Chair 2020-2021
Mahnoor joined IMechE NPSC a year and a half back. Right after joining, Mahnoor explored different opportunities and volunteered to lead a few initiatives. Given the freedom to do things her way, she gained confidence and produced exciting events for the chapter like Workshop 101 and technical workshops on ANSYS and MATLAB. She has consistently demonstrated that to be an effective leader, there must be harmony between your words and actions.
Mahnoor, as a Student Chair, is driven to polish aspiring engineers by engaging them in various technical and non-technical workshops and inter and intra university competitions. She believes exposure is a great teacher and could produce meaningful outcomes. She is also dedicated to providing her team leadership opportunities so that they too can equip themselves with all the expertise a leader should possess.
Mahnoor looks all set to take the chapter to even greater heights. She has the right mindset and skillset to do so.
Areej Aamir - Student Vice-Chair 2020-2021
As soon as Areej joined the university, she joined IMechE NPSC. She is the youngest Student Vice-Chair IMechE NPSC ever had. She joined IMechE in order to improve her soft skills, and her ability to absorb and practice things made her stand out. She quickly groomed herself as a professional and began contributing to the chapter right away. She has been quite expressive of her views and recently authored an article highlighting the contribution of women in STEM named “The Remarkable Women of NUST PNEC”
Areej led SOfE and Caption Off for the chapter and this enabled her to understand the overall dynamics of the chapter. She acknowledges that all this was possible due to the excellent mentorship she received and is committed to delivering similar mentorship to all chapter members.
Uzair Mudassir - Hon. Secretary 2020-2021
Uzair credits a drastic change in his personality to IMechE-NPSC. He picked a lot of his skills by getting involved in events like Speak Out for Engineering. Never shy of any opportunity that came his way, he developed himself as a significant member of the chapter.
As an elected Honorary Secretary, he realizes his journey has just begun. He aims to give back to the team by showing excellent leadership and support and fulfilling all responsibilities with utmost honesty and commitment. Ammar is aware of the responsibility that he holds and understands that the effective management of societies’ assets is the lifeline to success and sustainability.
Ammar brings to the team two very important elements; his ability to organize and present numbers and his creativity. To do the prior he makes use of software like MS Excel and adds easy to understand visuals. As for his creativity, he has always been vocal about new ways to develop the chapter.
Together with IMechE, he hopes to induce creativity in young minds and eventually broadening the world of mechanical engineering.
Abdul Moiz Ali - Team Lead Public Relations 2020-2021
Abdul Moiz began his journey with IMechE NPSC as a volunteer in the publication department. No matter what the task was assigned to him, he gave it all his efforts. His contribution did not go unnoticed and he was elected as the Team Lead Public Relations. He has already been part of important discussions and serves as a bridge between the chapter and country headquarters. His polite style of interaction makes him an easy-to-talk person and this opens doors for new opportunities for the chapter.
That is all for the unboxing of the IMechE NPSC’s leadership. With the new leads, the chapter aimed to reach the new heights and be a source of personal development and learning for many future engineers.
