I believe the ‘bible’ you are after is ‘Race Car Vehicle Dynamics’

In response to the ‘unstable steering’ letter in July's copy of PE.

I believe the ‘bible’ you are after is ‘Race Car Vehicle Dynamics’ Milliken and Milliken 1995, RIP William F Milliken (April 18, 1911 – July 28, 2012).

Looking at the extreme dynamic event of a rear wheel steer setup in a contact patch breakaway situation, the front lateral forces of the fixed axle will be fighting the rear lateral steer forces about the COG, resulting in a reduced corrective yaw moment. In a front wheel steer setup, the trailing fixed axle creates a single corrective yaw moment therefore has greater dynamic stability.
