PE
The superb flying machine is the sort of example to give to the youngsters we wish to recruit to British engineering
As a Senior (by age not contribution) member of the Vulcan to the Sky Club, I was delighted to see a Vulcan letter and article in January's PE.
For such a superb flying machine to be maintainable by volunteers more than 50 years after its debut is just the sort of example to give to the youngsters we wish to recruit to British engineering. Who can fail to be moved by the roar of those four mighty Bristol Siddeley Olympus engines?
At one time, all that apparently stood between us and oblivion was the three V bombers with nuclear capability, the Valiant, Victor and Vulcan. Of these, only one Vulcan remains airworthy.
Unfortunately, the publicity in PE did not give the website www.vulcantothesky.org for those who would like to help keep XH558 flying. I suspect this is practically everyone who reads PE.
